Operate Your Lights using LEGO Power Functions
NOTE: We have two versions of Power Functions-compatible supplies. This version has a variable output, meaning that lights will be on whenever the Power Functions channel is out of the center (idle/off) position. Otherwise, lights are off. If you are looking for a Power Functions compatible supply with “always on” output, check out this version instead.
When we set out to update the old version of our LEGO® Power Functions power supply, we knew we wanted to find a highly efficient power regulator, one that was also capable of powering a moderate (~50) number of LED lights. We're happy with the little switching regulator we found, and we've used it as the basis for our new line of power supplies. This pack includes a supply configured with a LEGO® Power Functions connecting plug attached, and it has a total of five power output plugs (four small, or Pico-sized, plugs, and one large-size plug for connecting to legacy Brickstuff components). Because the small-sized power plug has largely been adopted as the industry standard, this supply will work with lighting products and sets sold by Vonado, Light My Bricks, LeLightGo, Briksmax, Lightailing, Game of Bricks, and any company whose LED lights use a small plug that matches the ones on this supply.
These supplies are also fully compatible with 3rd-party power supplies that use Power Functions connectors, including products from Fx Bricks, BuWizz, and SBrick.
When connected to a Power Functions channel, this supply operates in an “on-off-on” configuration:
This behavior means, for example, that when installed inside a Power Functions train, all lights will be OFF when the train is stopped. Here is a short video demonstrating that behavior:

When connected to a Power Functions channel, this supply operates in an “on-off-on” configuration:
- When the Power Functions channel is set to “forward” or “reverse” (motors running forward or backward, or servo out of center position), the power supply is ON and lights are active.
- When the Power Functions channel is set to “center” (motors stopped or servo in center position), the power supply is OFF and lights are off.
This behavior means, for example, that when installed inside a Power Functions train, all lights will be OFF when the train is stopped. Here is a short video demonstrating that behavior:
You can tell this version of the supply apart from the others in our SEED-MV series because it has an ORANGE DOT on the regulator.
There's an onboard green power LED indicator light so you know when the power is turned on. The power is "on" by default, but if you'd like to add an on/off switch, we do also sell those separately (one version includes a case built from LEGO bricks, and the other is just the button and connecting wire). Plug the switch into the plug labeled "SW" on the supply and you'll be able to turn the power on and off for all connected lights. Another great feature of this supply-- and one often not found on supplies made by other companies-- is that when the power is off, it's really OFF. Meaning, there's zero battery drain. This is great for long-term power conservation.
This is a pack of one LEGO® Power Functions compatible power supply with variable power output. Power switch, LED lights, battery, connecting cables, and adapter boards sold separately.
This is not a LEGO® product. This kit contains re-used LEGO elements in new condition that have been repackaged or altered from their original form. LEGO® is a trademark of the LEGO Group of companies which does not sponsor, authorize or endorse this product.
