Power Anything That Rotates With Our Tiny Slip Ring
For as long as we've offered our Ferris Wheel lighting kit for sale, people have asked: how do you have the power on the outside while the wheel rotates without tangling the wires? The answer: a cool little device called a slip ring, which allows electrical connections to be maintained during rotation. We spent years scouring the planet to find the smallest, most compact slip ring available: with an outer diameter of just 5.9mm, you can fit it just about anywhere.
By customer request, we're offering our slip ring in a simple, easy-to-use configuration as a stand-alone item with small plugs on both ends and two adapter boards that allow two separate power circuits to be sent through the ring. This updated 2024 version of the kit uses small plugs, which means it will work with most 3rd-party lighting products on the market as well as with Brickstuff parts.
We've included a 1x4 LEGO® Technic brick with this pack, its center hole drilled just a little to allow the slip ring to fit, but you can also remove the ring from the brick and use it on its own in any LEGO or non-LEGO model.
To use, mount the slip ring in the center of your rotating thing, connect the adapters to both ends of the slip ring wire, and connect your lights or power to the plugs on the adapters. There are two separate circuits (one labeled "OUT1" and the other "OUT2"), so you can control two groups of lights separately. For example, you might want to have one circuit powering flashing lights on a carnival ride and the other circuit powering white interior lights—you could then turn either on or off individually.
This pack includes:
Lights, connecting cables for lights, adapter boards for lights, and power source sold separately.
